In yet another case of apathy and administrative failure on the part of the administration, locals in a village of Mayurbhanj, Odisha, carried a patient to hospital on a cot due to lack of proper roads. The incident came to light after news agency ANI shared the video showing the villagers carrying the patient on the cot. In his defense, the ADM of Mayurbhanj said that, "As the condition of the road is not good, ambulance cannot reach there and patients are carried by cots, I will talk to concern authority to take necessary action for the roads(sic)." This is not the first time that such an incident has come to light. On September 9, a patient in Madhya Pradesh had to be carried on a charpoy (cot) across a flooded river due to lack of road connectivity. According to a tweet by ANI, the incident took place in the Damoh region on Saturday. The video that went viral on social media shows four people carrying the man on a cot across a flooded river.
